Medicine in School

East Cowton and Kirkby Fleetham schools have number of qualified emergency and paediatric first aiders on site at all times. Any incidents that occur in school time are recorded using accident forms. In the case of a head bump, the child will be given a sticker and letter to inform their parents. Teachers will contact parents if they feel that it is necessary.

Our schools will not administer medicines that have not been prescribed by a doctor, dentist, nurse prescriber or pharmacist prescriber. Short-term prescription requirements should only be brought to school if it is detrimental to the child’s health not to have the medicine during the school day. We are unable to accept medicines that have been taken out of the container as originally dispensed, nor make changes to prescribed dosages.

If your child requires medicine to be taken during the school day, the following Parental agreement for setting to administer medicine form needs to be completed and returned to the school office.
