Our School Ethos and Values

Building Futures with Love

We want to be a group of schools which enable each child and adult to flourish and be the architect of their own future which is rooted in love.

We have chosen love as our cornerstone value because when asked, ‘which is the greatest commandment?’ Jesus answered, ‘love the Lord Your God with all you heart, with all your mind, and love your neighbour as yourself’.

(Matthew 22:36-40)

Admissions Arrangements

East Cowton C of E Primary School and Kirkby Fleetham C of E Primary School is part of the Dales Academies Trust and is located in North Yorkshire. Children are admitted into school in accordance with North Yorkshire County Council admissions arrangements which are published on the North Yorkshire County Council website.

For In Year applications for admissions (those within the school year) can be made directly to the school.

Excellent pupil attendance and punctuality are essential for children to achieve the highest standards of which they are capable. In order for children to achieve their potential, pupils must be highly motivated to learn and keen and eager to attend school. Regular, punctual attendance will establish good habits that will support them throughout their lives.

Behaviour Policy

We believe that a child cannot learn effectively unless they feel secure, successful and happy. We believe all children have a right to: learn and to make demonstrable progress, feel physically and emotionally safe at all times, be treated with respect and dignity at all times and express their feelings in an appropriate way.

We teach that responsibilities are linked to rights: all people in our school communities are responsible for their own behaviour. Nobody makes us behave badly; we choose how to respond. However, we accept that behaviour is not always driven by choice and where needed we will give differentiated support.
Please click here to view our Behaviour Policy.

Charging and Remissions Policy

The education we provide wholly or mainly during school hours will be free, but on some occasions a voluntary contribution towards the cost of an activity may be requested by the school. Parents are free to decide whether or not to contribute. This policy sets out the principles upon which the school will operate charges and remissions.
